How to Create an Extension

Open the Extension Form

Navigate to PBX > Extensions in the sidebar, then click New Extension.

Enter a Display Name

This is the name that appears on caller ID for internal calls — for example, John Doe or Front Desk.

Choose a Caller ID

Select which of your phone numbers should appear when this extension makes outbound calls. Leave blank to pass through the original caller ID.

Save Your Credentials

Your extension number and SIP password are generated automatically. Make sure to copy and save the SIP password — you will need it to register a phone or softphone app.

Enable the Web Phone (Optional)

Toggle on Web Phone to make and receive calls directly from your browser. No additional hardware or software required.

Click Create

Your extension is now active and ready to receive calls.

☎ Outbound Caller ID

Set a different number specifically for outbound calls.

🚨 Emergency Caller ID

The number sent to emergency services (911).

🚫 Hide Caller ID

When enabled, your caller ID is hidden on outbound calls.

⏱ Ring Timeout

How many seconds the extension rings before moving to the no-answer destination. Default: 25 seconds.

↪ No Answer Destination

Where calls go when nobody picks up — voicemail, another extension, or a ring group.

🎵 Music on Hold

The music or message callers hear when placed on hold.

🔴 Record Outbound Calls

Automatically record all outbound calls. Requires the call recording feature on your plan.

Tip

If you enabled the web phone, you can skip external phone setup entirely. Just click the phone icon at the bottom of your screen to start making calls from your browser.
